A comparative corpus-based investigation of results sections of research articles in Applied Linguistics and Physics

چکیده

Abstract The present study sought to identify the generic structures of results sections scientific research articles (RAs) between Applied Linguistics and Physics. Following a manual search approach, total 200 RAs in field Physics from different top prestigious journals randomly were singled out analyzed. In addition offering tentative template for rhetorical organizations sections, findings revealed shared non-shared units as well obligatory optional steps (RSs) disciplines. also indicated that RA writers organize contents RSs around certain resources (i.e., M1, M2, M3, M4, M5) key experimental factual analytical their studies. further suggested existence common core writing disciplines, albeit there are set playing an essential part distinguishing textual features each discipline depicting how individual developed. generated can offer number important pedagogical implications teaching EAP ESP courses, especially teachers students.
